From the Desk of the Executive Director: Struggling with Separation

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?  As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long;    we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
— Romans 8:35-38

Let’s be honest, this was the strangest Spring Break I have ever had.  There has been so much that has changed in the past 14 days.  It is hard to process it all.  It seems like one of the things that is defining our world right now is separation.

We are living in a time of separation from our normal jobs as teachers, our classrooms, our students, our fellowship.  This virus has also separated everyone from many of the things we love and enjoy--neighbors, church, sports, events, concerts, fellowship, etc.  It is hard to not have all of these people and things.

In this time, God reminds us in his Word that we cannot be separated from Him

God is exposing things in our lives that we trusted for security, joy, and pleasure.  He is calling us back to Jesus, who will give us everything for which we have ever longed. He is our security.  He is our joy.  He is our pleasure.

Nothing can ever separate us from Him and His love.  May we remind ourselves of this daily, and may we remind our students of the love Jesus has for them.  May we pray and work towards this end as we begin the last leg of our school-year online.

Let's remind students in our Bible lessons and in our online instruction of the love Jesus has for them and the great joy of Easter:  Christ has come!  Christ has died for sin that separated us all from God!  Christ has risen! Christ will come again!
