Goodness
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.”
Jesus’ gift of new life equips us to do good. God resurrects us from our death in sin so that we become alive in Jesus Christ. Consider how our image of God is reborn in our resemblance to Christ. We are alive to the cause of justice.
We delight in the Father’s will. We do to others just as Jesus has done to us. We bear the Spirit’s good fruit to nourish others and to glorify God. God rejuvenates us unblemished, and we are, once again, made very good in God’s eyes.
In light of the goodness God restores to us, we must devote ourselves to accomplishing good works and fulfilling His will. Not because he requires it for our salvation... but because His goodness requires no other response. Rejoice! The Spirit yields goodness.
