Restoring Hope to the City in Fairfield, Alabama

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Tutoring

With 200 students reporting for school this year, we are in need of tutors.  Of the 200, 50+ are new students from the public school system.  As you can imagine, these students are in desperate need of remedial tutoring in math, reading and grammar. Times are available throughout the day, depending on each individual teacher’s schedule.

Mentoring

The mission of our school has its roots from Isaiah 58:12. We seek to restore a heritage of character, hope and a love of learning through a Christ-centered education for our young men and women. As we work in this population, we realize that a hard reality is the epidemic of fatherlessness among our young students, particularly the young men we serve. This epidemic is why we believe God has blessed us with male teachers and staff members. Sixty percent of our full time staff is male, high above the current ratio of male to female teachers nationwide.

While this blessing of strong male figures in the lives of these young men is a beginning, the need for men of strong faith a good character is overwhelming.  Likewise, our young women long for deeper relationships with godly women.

Focus on Fairfield Workday

Quarterly, check the calendar for specific dates

Join us as we work to clean up the area within a short distance from the school.  This workday will focus on a two block area in downtown Fairfield.  Projects include: painting over graffiti, assisting in boarding up an abandoned house, door to door communication with neighbors, minor construction on houses of the elderly and other needs as determined. This is the perfect opportunity for the entire family to get involved in volunteering at Restoration Academy.
