Restoration Fast-Take

A Door Wide Open

Here at Restoration Academy there is “wide door of opportunity” for anyone who is willing to participate.  There are children who are hungry for love, for wisdom, for mentors, and for help and provision.  There are few better places on the planet where we can aggressively meet those needs for 8 hours a day for 5 days a week.  Praise God that this amazing door is indeed open.

Yet, we must remember that Satan hates this work, and he will do everything he can to discourage and deflate God’s people. In our ministry it may come from watching a student you love and care for get expelled because he or she made a series of tragically poor decisions.  It might entail hearing that a young lady you care about is now pregnant and dropped out of college.  At times it might come from an angry and disillusioned parent who doesn’t seem to understand the love and discipline you’re trying to offer her child.  It comes in a variety of ways.  Sometimes it comes from just watching aimless and hopeless youth walking the streets of your community or from watching your neighbor’s house literally go up in flames.  These are the difficult realities of following Christ.  It’s not easy.  In fact, it’s usually brutally hard.  As it was with Paul, great adversity is always going to come hand in hand with relevant ministry.  Yet, this should not shock us or discourage us.  Jesus told His disciples, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.  In the world you will have trial and tribulation.  But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 ESV).  There is an assurance of hardship and an assurance of Christ’s presence.  They go hand in hand.

Upcoming Opportunities to Get Involved in the Life of the School

Scholarship Update

To date we’ve raised 65 of 200 scholarships for the school year.  It is $5,000 a year to scholarship one child.  This is our primary mechanism for funding the work we do for our students.  Visit www.restorationacademy.org for more information.  We need your support!

November Luncheon – I will Leave this Road for the Narrow

Join us November 5th for our monthly luncheon.  This month we’re doing this a bit differently and taking our guests into the classrooms to interact with the students.  We’re focusing on how decisions made today can drastically affect the future.  The luncheon will begin at noon and will end by 1:30 pm (please note this is a 90 minute luncheon).  The events last year were very powerful.  We encourage you to attend and bring friends.  Please make

A State Divided

We all know there are several teams in this state, but on November 27th it’s about two teams… the Mighty Crimson Tide and the War Eagles!  Show your school spirit and support Restoration Academy at the 3rd Annual Iron Bowl Run Saturday, November 21st.  The 5k run is sponsored by the Hoover Metro Kiwanis Club and begins at 8 am at Hoover High School. There will be awards given in a variety of age categories as well as a 1 mile fun run for the whole family.  Run for UA or AU… but help RA kids in the process.  For more information contact Brian Jenkins at hooverkiwanis@hotmail.com.  To register online, visit www.active.com/page/Event_Details.htm?event_id=1799657.
